One of pixyBlog's most popular photographers, Eric Kelley, and Austin Texas based photographer Esther Havens will be having a photo exhibit in Charlottesville, Virginia this Friday (15th June). It will be at the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative - The Bridge is right next to Spud Nuts on Avon St. For more information visit the shows website lachurechaexhibit.com.
"The show is a benefit for an organization that is working in La Chureca, the trash dump in Managua Nicaragua. This non-profit organization is dedicated to battling the physical, emotional, and spiritual affects of extreme poverty found there. Love, Light & Melody is committed to becoming expert on the life and culture inside the dump, identifying and meeting the immediate physical needs, raising awareness about and fighting social injustice, and using music and the arts to rebuild, restore, and bring healing to La Chureca and other communities ravaged by extreme poverty. Proceeds from the show will go directly to LL&M and then to the education and feeding center in La Chureca."
"Please come out on Friday between 6 and 9 pm if you can and hang out with me and some friends I went to Nicaragua with. Bring your families and friends and have a good time. I promise you will have a good time, and if you don't I will refund all your money. Oh, wait. It's free (though donations are amazing!) So, I won't have to give your money back, though I will make it up to you in some way or another, if you don't like. I promise."
"We will have information booths from Toms Shoes, who has donated 300 pairs of shoes to the kids in La Chureca, and a booth for the NOF (Nicaraguan Orphan Fund), this is the UVA group that I went to Nicaragua with."
