Last month we released the PixyBlog Hall-of-fame for both photos and photoblogs. The new rankings have been well received by the community and they are a valuable addition to our Top Photoblogs section. However, the system we used to calculate the rankings was relatively simple and prone to abuse, so today we have just released an updated Hall-of-Fame.
For the hall-of-fame photoblog rankings, we now take the age of the photoblog into account. This will help newer photoblogs to compete against the more established ones and hopefully give more accurate results.
The hall-of-fame photos has been re-worked to group photos from the same photographer together and only feature a photographer once. This allows a greater range of photos and photographers to be displayed and also stops one or two photographers from taking-over the entire list. Another benefit of having a greater selection of photos is that there will be more chance for new photos to appear on the list and existing photos to change position.
As with all the rankings on PixyBlog, we will continue to tweak our algorithms to try and give the most accurate results we can. We hope you like the improvements.
We have just extended the Top Photoblogs section of our website to include three additional ranking pages for both photos and photoblogs. The new sections are as follows:
