SlideShowPro integration

Following an inquiry from Eric, we started to look into ways of integrating SlideShowPro flash application with pixyBlog. We instantly found that it integrated very well. An article outlining the steps involved can be found on our wiki here.

A working demo of the integration can be found on woklife.com. The integration includes linking from the gallery pages directly to the corresponding slideshow for that gallery, see the galleries page for a sample.

We will continue to play around with SlideShowPro and look at more ways to integrate and customize the application for pixyBlog. We would be interested in hearing any suggestions or comments anyone has on this.

Minor update online

Today a minor pixyBlog update went online. The update includes some bug fixes and improvements, improved handling for domains/URL's and a new theme for our users.

Bug fixes:

Comments emails to authors include a comment management link which previously didn't work. Thanks to Joe for reporting this.
Under certain conditions, deleting of an entry could cause an error for that photoblog. This has now been fixed.
Some users were reporting missing photos on the 'Thumbnails' page; this bug has now been fixed.

Minor improvements:

In our discussion group a number of users have requested to remove the 'Login' link from the page menu. This use to be difficult to change, but our users can now simply change a parameter in their #showPageMenu($website $showSearch $showLogin) macro (usually found in the '_header' template) to show/hide the 'Login' link. To show the Login link, set the value of $showLogin to true.

URL and domain handling improvements:

Again, from requests posted in our discussion group the following improvements to how we handle URL's and users own domain names.

Now http://www.demo.pixyblog.com will redirect to http://demo.pixyblog.com so that visitors are not lost when the 'www' has been added.
Users with their own domain can still access their photoblog on the original pixyblog.com domain. E.g. http://oldarmstrong.pixyblog.com will redirect to http://photos.oldarmstrong.com. This will help keep links and visitors coming to your site when you change over to using your own domain.
Finally, for those who have been customizing their themes we have just added a $url.photo() to our model object reference. It's a sligthly better way of showing the URL's for your photos.

New Theme Added:

Another new theme was added today; 'Curacao'. This simple, curvy theme is available for all our users and can currently be seen in action on our demo site.

That's it for now. The next big update is being tested right now and should be released shortly.

New theme added

Another new theme called 'Congo' is now available for our users. It can currently be seen working on our demo site (demo.pixyblog.com). New and existing users can select to use this theme from their 'Themes' menu.

Theme updates

A new theme is now available for our users, it's a variation on the theme which was originally created for Eric Kelly's photoblog; Conomocity. As part of updating Eric's theme we have released a version of it named Zebra. You can see the theme in use on his site photoblog.conomocity.com.

We have also bundled some updates for all the other themes. Most of these are minor fixes just for browser compatibility, but the Mangosteen theme has been revamped with a new colour scheme and other smaller changes. You can see the new Mangosteen theme in use on woklife.com.

For those of you who have customized your theme and are either wanting to update to the new revision or want to change themes completely, please read our FAQ article on updating your theme.
